I ran a lot over the past 12 months. More than ever, which was a surprise to me. I didn’t have a goal of running over 100 miles each month for a year straight, until I realized I had done so for 11 months. But more interesting than just the overall number were the details. Before I ran the Cayuga Trails 50 in 2015 I purchased a TomTom Runner watch, used, for $90. Before that I had been only taken my phone and Nike+, which wasn’t cutting it. And before that, I didn’t even wear a watch. So with well over a year of information, I decided to make it beautiful. The medical emergency was a bit of a surprise, as I was stung by a bee (which has happened dozens of times in my life with no incident) and had a “severe allergic reaction.” So for the months of July and August I had the pleasure of running with an EpiPen.
But now it is getting colder again, and that’s my favorite time to run. I’m on track to easily complete another 100+ miles this September but who knows how many more months that will last. I entered one race this past year. I have no races on the calendar. My body feels good. I haven’t had an injury in well over a year. So I’m going to just keep running. I am taking shoe recommendations, however.
