I used to make fonts just to give them away. I still do that too, but somewhere between 2016 and, well, now, I migrated web hosts, changed content management systems, and got a little lackadaisical in my free fonts distribution. What I’m trying to say is that two of the fonts I made (and like!) to give away…went offline. Unintentionally (sorry). This all could have been avoided if I had thrown them on DaFont.
So now I’ve written this blog post to remedy that. If you’ve looked for Nonesuch (named after a river in Maine near where I grew up) or Juju Combo (named after a friend’s dog) well, they’re right here. Before you call me a liar, here are two Dribbble posts, of all things, from 2016 (Nonesuch & Juju). Not only that, I even posted graphics on this blog, in 2016 (Nonesuch) and 2017 (Juju) highlighting these free resources. In looking at those infographics now the thing I’m most proud about is that you can get all that type for $0. The running? Meh.

The language support for Juju doesn’t really extend beyond English, sorry y’all (I’m not about to update this). IT’S ALL CAPS ONLY. Fun fact about Juju…in 2019 I revived it as Tourney, which is slightly different, but is made at a much higher quality and supports dozens of languages (and has lowercase letters).
Nonesuch is in slightly better shape than Juju (yes lowercase, as you see above) but the diacritics need work. If I find time (or piles of money) I’ll devote some effort to touching it up and re-releasing it as an open source font, because I think it is kind of nice.
What you can do with the downloads
Anything except share them/post the font files online. YES to commercial work you make. NO need to contact me (though I love to see what people do). That’s it. Have fun!

Still here? Some more interesting things: Nonesuch was an experiment with my first “pay what you can” product. It was hooked into a cart/ecommerce system where users could input “0” and get the font for free. After a few years, I learned: over 95% of downloads were from people paying $0. The average payment for the last 5% of people: $5 per download.
Also worth mentioning: I at one point tried a “free font if you subscribe” model to grow my newsletter list. What I learned: the subscriber count will quickly get to the 1000s, and paying for an email newsletter service when most people won’t even pay $5 for a font…is a losing game.
